Our Services
Because, for the Black community, literacy is our legacy. We provide books by Black authors with Black characters in Black history dealing with Black issues. Our mission is to promote literacy and preserve the legacy of Black intellect, ingenuity, and revolution. Our vision is to develop the love of literacy and level of education within the Black community to combat the different and nuanced issues that are faced by Black people in America. We are more than a bookstore, we want to see our community flourish. Check out our full list of services below!

Bible Studies
Bible Studies are weekly assemblies for the purpose of improving Biblical literacy through the studying of specific books, characters, passages, words, and theological concepts within the Bible.

Book Clubs
Our book clubs are groups that meet weekly to read, analyze, and discuss specific books.

Book Fairs
Book Fairs are book stores that we set up at schools, community organizations, and public facilities to encourage a love of reading within youth and adults.

Bookstore
We sell books for people to purchase.

We rent books for people to use for a specified amount of time.

Literacy Events are events that focus on bringing awareness to the importance of literacy, providing practical solutions to improve literacy, and working with community advocates and organizations that share in the love and work of literacy development.

School Readings
School Readings are reading programs where our staff and volunteers to go into schools and read to students.

School Year Reading
School Year Reading Initiatives are reading opportunities and challenges for children and adults to read a certain amount of books throughout the school year, outside of the traditional school day and hours.
Each initiative is designed to encourage people to read outside of the traditional months, days, and times of school to promote that reading and education should not be limited to a place and time.

Summer Reading
Our Summer Reading Initiatives are reading opportunities and challenges for children and adults to read a certain amount of books throughout the summer.

Tutoring
Our tutoring provides academic assistance and private instruction in reading, writing, and history.

Workshops
Workshops are training events and programs designed to work with the community, families, and individuals to improve literacy by teaching specific reading methodologies and techniques to improve reading fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
